POSITION TITLE: Director of Alternative Center for Educational Success
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Missouri State Teacher Certificate
- Graduate Degree
- Counseling Certification or Alternative Program experience preferred
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools
HOURS IN DUTY DAYS EXCLUDING LUNCH: 8
(Note: Actual workdays may vary in accordance with District needs and administrative assignments and may include occasional weekend work.)
WORK DAY: Monday – Friday

CONTRACT DAYS WORKED: 11 months
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Coordinator for MO Options and Off-Site Alternative Education Program (OSS)
- Serve as instructional leader.
- Serve as liaison for Alternative Center for Educational Success Consortium.
- Admissions coordinator for alternative programs.
- Effective communicator with parents/students/staff.
- Resource for alternative intervention strategies.
- Student Discipline.
- Performance Based Teacher Evaluations and evaluations of support staff.
- Interview/recommend faculty/staff.
- Financial management.
- Oversee Free/Reduced Lunch forms, certification, and verification.
- Provide tuition/billing information for Central Office.
- Seek funding sources for programs.
- Review grades, transitions and SPED adaptations to ensure staff are following procedures.
- Conduct school-wide drills.
- Review/update student/parent/faculty handbooks.
- Oversee building, grounds and technology needs/repairs.
- Guidance duties.
- Crisis Plan implementation.
- Coordinate transition of Alternative Center for Educational Success students to “home school.”
- Coordinate with social worker, homeless supervisor to help meet student needs
- Serve as LEA for IEP meetings.
- Disability Manifestation Determination team member.
- Coordinate graduation ceremony for ACES/Missouri Options.
- Building Leadership Team member, assist in presenting to CLT’s.
- Review/approve leave requests and travel requests.
- Review/approve support staff time sheets for payroll.
- Facilitate faculty meetings.
- Assist faculty and staff in finding appropriate materials/supplies to assist in student learning.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance that complies with District policies and rules.
- Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and the community and the ability to work as a productive and solid member of the school district team.
- Must have the ability to collaborate with peers, possess a positive attitude and be flexible with change.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with supervision at home football games
- Attend monthly Board of Education meetings
- Other duties as assigned. This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Physically strong and flexile to assist in physical restraint of students who are a danger to themselves, others and/or property.
- Possess patience and self-restraint.
- Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas.
- Physical demands can include but are not limited to: Exerts up to 40 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
- Mental demands can include but are not limited to: Comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
- Frequent movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
