POSITION TITLE:  Title 1 Reading Teacher - Grades K-2

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Missouri Elementary Education Certificate
  • Demonstrated skills in working with individuals in need of remediation
  • Skillful in assisting students in the transfer of learning to application
  • Computer skills required

 

REPORTS TO:  Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

 

HOURS IN DUTY DAYS EXCLUDING LUNCH:  7.25

(Note:  Actual workdays may vary in accordance with District needs and administrative assignments and may include occasional weekend work.)

 

WORK DAY:  Monday - Friday

CONTRACT DAYS WORKED:  9 months

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide targeted reading intervention services to students identified as at risk in literacy skills.
  • Deliver small group and individual instruction focused on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  • Use assessment data to identify student needs, guide instruction, and monitor academic progress.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction and student goals.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans for struggling readers based on student data and identified needs.
  • Administer literacy screenings, benchmark assessments, and progress monitoring tools in accordance with district and Title I expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, intervention services, and required Title I documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress and instructional support strategies.
  • Participate in MTSS/problem-solving teams, data meetings, professional development, and other collaborative school improvement efforts.
  • Create and maintain a learning environment that is supportive, engaging, and appropriate for student needs and developmental levels.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom management and student supervision during intervention services.
  • Support the goals, requirements, and compliance expectations of the Title I program and district policies.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, professionalism, flexibility, collaboration, and the ability to work positively as part of a school team.
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance in accordance with district policies and expectations.

 

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned.  This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties.  The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.  

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas.
  • Physical demands can include but are not limited to:  Exerts up to 40 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
  • Mental demands can include but are not limited to:  Comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
  • Frequent movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
