POSITION TITLE:  Assistant Superintendent

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Specialist’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Certification by the State of Missouri
  • Evidence of continued professional growth
  • Valid driver’s license

 

REPORTS TO:  Superintendent of Schools

 

HOURS IN DUTY DAYS EXCLUDING LUNCH:  8

(Note:  Actual workdays may vary in accordance with District needs and administrative assignments and may include occasional weekend work.)

 

WORK DAY:  Monday - Friday

CONTRACT DAYS WORKED:  12 months

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Personnel:

  • Assists in supervision and evaluation of all building administrators.
  • Implement and promote the evaluation instrument adopted by the Moberly Public School District and provide required evaluator training on a regular basis which insures inter-rater reliability.  
  • Co-coordinates recruitment, selection, and hiring of the best qualified certified and non-certified member(s) who meet the vision and philosophy of the Moberly Public School District as indicated by an evaluation of staff needs while meeting all the state and federal regulations governing civil rights.
  • Coordinates in-district transfers of staff members, both voluntary and involuntary.
  • Assist building administrators with personnel problems or concerns when requested or when a need is evident.
  • Keeps current on state and federal laws and policies.
  • Represents the District at various professional meetings and conventions and implements program suggestions or changes.
  • Act as district coordinator of food service and summer school.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and monitors Core Data/MOSIS Coordinator, Payroll & Retirement Administrator, Personnel & Benefits Coordinator, and the student data system. 
  • Coordinates (or causes to be coordinated) student teaching assignments upon building administrator and supervisor’s approval.
  • Develops K-12 curriculum guides.
  • Responsible for the yearly revision and current operation of the K-12 curriculum horizontally by grade level and vertically by scope and sequence. 
  • Advises superintendent on the best possible educational programs and services. 
  • Is directly responsible for working with professional development committees in coordinating staff development programs for teachers and other instructional personnel. 
  • Assists in the determination of types of programs needed by the schools; makes appropriate recommendations of all major changes and submits to the superintendent for approval. 
  • Reports on the status of district programs and services at the request of the superintendent. 
  • Supervises the preparation of or prepares state reports and claims as required.
  • Responsible for screening new instructional materials and presenting desirable items to teachers for their inspection and use.
  • Coordinates the adoption and use of textbooks.
  • Provides vigorous leadership directed at the improvement of instruction. 
  • Attends all regular meetings of the Board of Education and all other meetings as requested by the superintendent or the Board of Education. 
  • Assists in planning the budget in areas relating to curriculum and instructional materials. 
  • Responsible for executing all federal programs and forms required by law for the Moberly School District.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance that complies with District policies and rules.
  • Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and the community and the ability to work as a productive and solid member of the school district team.
  • Must be able to collaborate with peers, possess a positive attitude and be flexible with change

 

Student Services: 

  • Supervises and facilitates program planning, policy development, and interagency coordination related to MOHealthNet services.



OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned.  This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.  

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical demands can include but are not limited to:  Exerts up to 40 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
  • Mental demands can include but are not limited to:  Comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
